This forum was opened in 2007 and after nearly 16 years needs to be retired. The forum software is long out of date and has become progressively harder to patch in order to run on newer hosting software. I have done what I can to get the forum up in a read-only view, but posting will remain broken. A few old members still hang out on Discord if you'd like to stop by to say hello.
Thanks for the memories. -Lhurgoyf

Yeah, we knew about it on Monday, but they said no one was allowed to talk about it, and then CNN.com pops up with it on Tuesday. Funny how things work like that, lol. There was never any real danger though. They weren't armed. Like, if a suicide bomber ran into the WSA here on base where they store all the warheads, and blew himself up, supposedly nothing would happen other than him dying.

Oh, and it was 6 warheads. The missiles themselves were meant to go, but the warheads were sposed to be taken out.
They had the entire Air Force doing safety briefings and things for an entire day, orders handed down from the Chief of Staff. It's a pretty scary situation overall though. How someone could lose track of nukes... scary...

Yeah I know nothing could have happened. It just goes to show like if this can happen then would it be so difficult for terrorists to get their hands on them? Just makes me wonder.

Stuff like that happened all the time during the Cold War right? Often enough that they came up with the term "Broken Arrow". I remember reading that the amazing part of the Cold War wasn't that we survived without having the world nuke each other, but that a bomb didn't go off accidentally.
