New PC

Alright... I will be purchasing a new computer. No I don't hit loads of cash and no I will not build or have anyone build it for me. I am giving mine to my mom and waiting for my income tax to come in to pay for most of it. I am hoping to purchase the PC for around 800-900 dollars. I either want to buy it from bestbuy, where I work or have one built by either dell or gateway.

I am a noob when it comes to PCs now. I know I want to be able to have a great gfx card that can play C&C well. I would also like to pay for it monthly (ie. 50$ a month.) What would be the best route and best PC, keeping under my budget? I am not looking for 303030393000 GB of space as I work for bestbuy and can get hard drives cheap. I would not mind starting off with 40-80GB drive as I don't download much either. This will pretty much be for gaming (CS 1.6, Source, & CnC 3) Right now I have a 34GB hard drive and only used 12 GBs. I will be purchasing a monitor as well. I believe mine is a 19inch if not bigger and I love it.

The reason I would choose this PC is because I can get it faster (at my job today) and the service plans I can get cheaper. The XPS is a stronger unit. I do not want to have to worry about upgrading until 2010. Also I want it to last that long w/o problems.

looks decent to me...if ya get Vista lemme know if ya have any probs with Vent...a buddy just bought damn near that exact system and vent works fine until ya open a new window on top of it, then he can hear but cant talk until he brings the Vent window back on top....but overall he is happy with his computer...and its really close to what ur lookn at.

Have him run vent in admin mode and it should work. Right click then run as admin.

if you're looking for a gaming rig, i would stay away from vista for now. vista may be designed with "gaming in mind", but right now it's severely lacking.

i don't understand why people are against building/having a pc built for them. i can build that same rig for hundreds of dollars cheaper, and you wouldn't have to worry about interest.

that gpu leaves a bit to be desired...

i notice "integrated sound". know why? cause some top end things, such as EAX, do not work in vista (last i checked).
