Default EVE Online Anyone?

About five of us from CS:S started playing EVE when not scrimming. Thought I would see if anyone else was interested in joining us. You can download EVE for free from http://www.eve-online.com/ and use a 14 day trial.

EVE-online is, by definition, a massivly multiplayer online game (MMOG) set in a futuristic, science-fiction based, persistent world. Players take the role of spaceship pilots seeking fame, fortune, and adventure in a huge, complex, exciting, and sometimes hostile galaxy.

The gameplay of EVE has two distinct, but related, categories: PVE (Player. Vs. Environment) and PVP (Player vs. Player).

PVE: This includes everything that could be called "single-player" in the world of EVE, ranging from killing NPCs ("Non-Player Characters"), doing missions for Corporation (and Faction), mining asteroid belts, to research and production of items.

In this category of the game, players interact with computer controlled characters which behave much like in a single player game. A player may group up with other friends who play the game and take on assignments which have little to no effect on other players who are logged into the universe.

PVP: although generally used to refer to direct combat between two or more players, in EVE the term also includes anything else that involves the interaction of people, ranging from the aforementioned combat, to trading and corporation management.

Sporting one of the most advanced player vs. player systems in the world, Eve has a deep player to player interaction whether it be through means buying and selling items on the market, competing over resources, or waging war on other groups of players. In the exception of lone wolf pirates, the PVP element in Eve resembles that of tribes looking out for each other and helping each other get ahead in the game at the expense of other player tribes.

So instead of building up a character you build up a ship? I've been wanting to play a game like that for ages! Sounds very interesting. I'll dl the trial. Are there monthly charges?

Yeah Ice, the game is about 20 bucks the first month to pay for the entire thing and 30 days. Play it for the first 14 days and see if you like it. Get with me on xfire and I'll get you set up with the corporation and we'll help you out. Whats your name ingame Goosh?

I think it's Gooshy. I'll try to hop on xfire or something when you're on.

I dont think any of us played the tutorial, we all skipped it. EVE is really only fun if you play with people you know. It has quite the learning curve.

Well I didn't give it much of a chance so I'm going to be playing some more to see if I get into it.

i played even pretty hardcore for a few months. even had a guy who was filthy fucking rich help me out by throwing me some cash (the biggest help anyone can get in the beginning). but honestly, that game is the same fucking thing over and over, especially if youre a miner (every group needs at least one for money purposes). its so boring, even though the game seems cool at first. and i dont care what anyone says, it DOES take absolutely FOREVER to go somewhere in that game. anyways, not an exciting game.
