They are possibilities(add these to the tens of millions of other possibilities). Nothing more. More of a if you stand on your head 3 times, twist your arm just perfect this way, and pat your stomach, something will happen. Theres so many additional forces acting on the objects that its hard to tell what might happen.
But this is relatively new area to science, your looking at something miles and miles away from 1 angle, then take a wild guess based on theory alone and tell the public.
This also shows the old school of thought that an asteroid killed the dinosaurs and theres suppose to be new evidence that it wasn't an asteroid but something different. So if multiple impacts failed to wipe out life before what about now?
Anything is possible and I'd be a bit more worried about the objects in space they haven't found rather then what we do know about, it would suck to get blindsided.
