Having some problems

For some reason i cannot join any servers.
Every time it says it cannot verify my steam user id ticket or something. Anyone know how to fix this? I see that there was a steam update but it says it downloads automatically. I'm new to steam can anyone help me out?

you are most likely trying to join a server that has not yet been updated.

looked it up in steam support, it's very helpful. Just had to delete a file and it automatically replaced it next time i logged on and it worked fine.
