... I don't know how to set up the router style system link.. is that you just plug the router power cord in then plug in all the 360s you want to play with? I don't know how to, my cousin does and I'll ask him if you don't know, but since you enter tourneys and other LAN stuff, you probably know better...

Crossed-over cables are for directly connecting things.
You probably have straight cables, which are the ones you need. :).
