it's as spin was starting to say...
graphics go over everything else so other things will lag up. let me show anyone running Windows XP how this would work, except in a somewhat safe mannor...
start up something that takes a lotta CPU power... hit ctrl+alt+delete...
set all the processes you can to "low" including explorer.exe...
set the CPU-hog process to "realtime"
your one task will perform well but the rest of your prcoesses wont get the correct amount of attention. some will error, others will time out, others will take way longer than normal. this is why they are set as they are and most system things (*points to IRQ settings from that post*) aren't editable/changeable by the user in the menus. IT WILL FUCK SHIT UP.
ice: i wouldn't say burn out your card but i would say it'll make your PC unstable. if it causes continual problems then it might kill a HDD or somesuch. this is an extreme example but should still recieve attention.
buy a new pc or turn down settings. if your settings are at low like stoner's, then shit... i don't know...
