I plan on buying one after all the big hype goes away.

Cause honestly if you think about it, people are out there spending 300 on an ipod, yet they complain about the 500 price of a ps3 which can do so much more?

It's $600, but yeah. People are more complaining that Sony isn't doing it in the Games Exclusives department, almost all their good games are going to the 360, plus the 360 has a bunch of amazing exclusives itself.

Lair is pretty much the only PS3 game that has me excited, I might just rent a system or something so I can play it.

There's not much hype around the PS3 though for some reason. There seems to be more hate. It's like this massive bandwagon started of all these Sony Fanboys who have been let down and are now PISSED at sony. On just about every website when something Sony is posted, you see a flood of hate posts, or if there's a poll that asks if people liked this or that about a Sony game or show, there's floods of negative posts.

I almost feel bad for Sony, but they brought it on themselves. Lair isn't even a Sony made or helped game, just the studio making it decided to do it for the PS3 only. People are saying there's a chance it'll hit the 360, but i'm not holding my breath on that one. I think this one will stay for the PS3. Game is just soooo sekzy!

Oh, and there's reports that haven't fully been confirmed, that there will be a stripped down PS3 for $430. That's a plus I spose for Sony.

I would never pay that much for a console.

Its not a lot, people are either just cheap or dont realize how much money they drop on other worthless crap, they jsut see it as 600 dollars for a "video game system" when in terms ps3 is much more then that.

As for the games, there are a couple sony exclusives that I'm looking forward to for the ps3, along with the fact that once its out, I'm sure many game developers will take part in its power to make games. It just needs time.

I agree big time though that sony screwed themselves with this, In many ways. But I also think that sonys gonna stay at the top, even if there sales go down.

Im getting a Wii.... cheap, innovative fun.... Plus I'm already buying a PC really really soon.

WELL, actaully, I'm getting a 360 in the next couple weeks, I'm pre-ordering a wii and getting that, then a couple months after ps3 comes out, I'm getting that.

damn right, im getting a Wii also, that shit looks amazing, plus ima big Zelda fan and the fact that I can get more control over his movements just makes it that much better and unique. Smash brothers also looks amazing.

btw anyone planning on buying one of the first hundred thousand ps3's, Thank you for beta testing them for everyone else :D

I haven't bought a console for ages, but I'll only buy a console that is VGA compatible and you can pirate games on it, fairly easily.

Never liked any of the MGSs, but this one looks especialy goofy. Weird robo/bio creatures that moo like cows and fart fire. Plus the gameplay looks very odd. The enemies all hunched over. It didn't look as spectacular as they were promising is all :\

Gears of War > Anything the PS3 has so far. And Halo3 will just completely smash them to bits. But, lair does look nice :)

I really don't care about the gameplay. I would play even it if was like pong. I'm in it for the story. Although, I wouldn't play if the cut scenes were like pong. Fuck that.

I'm a story junkie these days. Was just talking about that on the Gears forums, about how the length of the game doesn't matter, cause in most long games it's just repeating the same thing over and over again. What I want is an adrenaline pumping story. Something I can really get into, like a movie.

This is also why I didn't like MGS series. The story just didn't interest me, and the gameplay felt to boring to even wait for the next part of the story.

Kaz from Sony came out and said there will be no price drop for the PS3 in the US. The $430 price tag of the stripped down PS3 is for Japan only, and the US prices still remain at $600 and $500.

I think the MGS storyline is the best out there. It's just... fucking sexy. It should be a movie. I cried at the end of Snake Eater the first time I beat it.

lol. guess everyone is different eh? I would dissagree, as would many, but then there is no denying that there are TONS others who do like it. Everyone has their own thing :)

I almost cried at the end of FFIX.

When it comes to metal gear solid games though, beat the first one and liked it a lot, beat the second one and liked it a lot, then the third one came out and i feel like i had to force myself to play it, but when i beat it, it all felt worth while.

A personal favorite that I'm hoping they bring to ps3 is Soul Calibur, one of the only in depth fighting games for ps2. Along with the final fantasys of course, hopefully in time we can just put FFX in the mistake catagory, and everyone can pass over that one... along with 8.

That's kind of how I felt. I beat the first MGS and liked it, mostly cause i shared the experience with my brothers so us talking about it a lot made it better. 2 I felt like I was forcing myself through it just to get more of the story when the game play was becoming tedious to me after a while. Eventually I just got to bored of it and stopped. 3 I never played. I had lost all interest after my experience with 2.

I dunno. I never knew you could pirate games on it *fairly easily*. Maybe it's because i'm just so used to the dreamcast which doesn't require any mod at all to play back-ups.
