I never expected any less from the greatest RTS makes of all time when I heard about its production

IceBlade 09-27-2008 02:47 AM

Makes me want to reinstall Rome Total War. That game was kick ass.

I didn't realize Blizzard was making this game. interesting

Disciple3 09-29-2008 02:43 PM

Can't go anywhere without running into starcraft fanboys, and blizzard cant exactly claim to be an rts maker. creative assembly and ensemble studios and perhaps relic are at the top of that tower.

Blizzard > Relic > Westwood > Creative Assembly > Ensemble Studios.

yes, i included a company that no longer exists since you did too with Ensemble.

KhaOZ 09-29-2008 06:46 PM

Hey, all heavily biased opinionated & slightly trolling responses aside, that game really does look pimp as hell. I'm very impressed with the navy battle.

Disciple3 09-29-2008 10:15 PM

Im just wondering how they're gonna do the naval battles online, the only problem with TW has been the online matchmaking. Unless you have a high end PC with good internet it lags terribly(understandably just look at the game) and it uses gamespy (ugh) but if they could fix their issues with that and maybe even incorporate the turn based campaign into an online feature the game would be golden. Imo starcraft just doesnt seem like an rts, wc3 was ok but the game is not balanced, atleast they had a good online element with Bnet but Ensemble Studios online was just still far more convenient.

KhaOZ 09-30-2008 09:56 AM

StarCraft is easily my favorite RTS of all time. I doubt anything will compare to the enjoyment I got from that game for quite some time, if ever.

Total War games are more of a TBS imo. Not RTS. The only RTS thing about it were the battles but you didn't even have to fight them yourself. I suppose online it'd be more of an RTS. SC is pure RTS so I'd have to agree with Khaoz.

Disciple3 09-30-2008 09:44 PM

total war games are an exception, and if your on a hard campaign setting you will about always lose an autodecide battle, its just driven by a bit more realism and not spamming a unit until you win and god forbid tactics

IceBlade 09-30-2008 10:30 PM

Yeah I'd always fight my own battles as well lol. The only way to win.

Chappy 10-15-2008 06:18 AM

How is starcraft not a RTS but you consider WC3 to be one??? have you even played the game, i mean seriously...i have nothing left for a comment you pulled out of your ass like a piece of corn that got stuck >.<

Ice..me...you...D3 biatch...your the guild bank this time tho

Disciple3 10-15-2008 05:48 PM

I've played plenty of "rts" games, and ones like starcraft where you can unit spam and win are not strategy to me, AoM is better in strategy than Starcraft and they are really similar but it has something called ... balance. Sorry I never really got on the Starcraft wagon

Touché

Chappy 11-01-2008 06:37 AM

there was balance in the game if you knew how to play

some people would "zerg" you with zerglings...whooptydo, if you were good you could defend against such things zerglings had shit for hitpoints and went down easy they just tore up tanks and stuff, and to be good you had to play alot, so i can see how if you played once or twice it would be hard to pickup, but every RTS game ive played is just like SC, you gain resources, build buildings, make units, go forth and pwn face....fits the bill to me......SC2 should be interesting, but the one im waiting to spend most of my time playing is D2, its just gonna take forever for them to release the damn thing and hopefully it doesnt turn into that Starcraft Ghost game they never released for the gamecube or some shit, anyone remember that being "under development" but whatever sometimes next year after the wow expansion has been out for awhile we will start seeing these other games, oh btw, blizzard is working on a new MMO to come out in the next couple years, i wonder what it will be, better Diablo game maybe, i really dont wanna run around in the SC universe at this point

Disciple3 11-01-2008 09:46 AM
