Xbox 360: Competition

There's been some discussion lately about a number of aspects related to competitiveness, the different platforms, and what features will be available. I think it's important to cover this discussion before we determine this division's main goals.

I for one would like this new division to have a competitive team within the division, but allow casual gamers to be a part of the division itself as well. Focusing on the competitive aspect, first of all we have to acknowledge that PC gaming is the competitive platform. Because of this, our division (assuming is a 360 div) will not have the opportunities of some of the PC based CoD4 groups. That's fine by me though.

However, through some of the competitive channels, I've heard that many people are concerned about certain aspects of the game. Competitive players are genuinely worried about the perks not being balanced, fair, or natural to competitive play. They are also concerned with the air strikes and helicopters because they are not deemed as "tactical" means of winning. In talking with some members of the league community, they claim to have fixed CoD2 through software tweaks and claim they'll "do the same" if they don't like the final product for competitive purposes. This means that the community may very well do away with UAV, air strikes, helicopters, and even perks all together if they are deemed "not fit" for competitive play.

Unfortunately, we don't have that capability on the 360, and so I'm wondering where that leaves us. The beta seems very well balanced but we won't know what the final product is until it's in our hands. I just hope there's a serious market for the console version.

luckily, multiplayer is fucking awesome just the way it is for now

I see what your saying, I'm hoping IW will make the private rooms FULLY customizeable. They're fun to use, and some clans may think its fine (on vacant... how effective are airstrikes?) but I understand for the competitve balance I hope that in private rooms you can turn off things like UAV, Air strikes, and "choppas!!" UAV I don't really have a problem with as much as airstrikes (hard to get away... but possible) and the helecopter should be taken out and replaced (you can't get away!!!!)

Yeah good point on Vacant haha.
Only good if someone is outside, or in that little 'outside-pavillion' room inside the buildling.

I think the game will come out with an option to do away with the UAV, choppers, and airstrikes. So don't get used to them too much now. I'm sure that the GB ladder as well as other competitive ladders will have the default game type wihtout those specs. If you think about it, the game could be a whole different experience without those.

Well without UAV, what's the point of UAV jammers?

Gundevil X 09-17-2007 02:02 PM

the uav actually bothers me the most. It takes away a certain level of skill required for the game if you basically know where the other guys are.

XBXAXTXMXAXNX 09-17-2007 02:13 PM

eh, after the last clan match I equipped a UAV jammer... I want double tap though, your gun shoots twice as fast!

NvizioN 09-17-2007 02:21 PM

I don't know why you'd really want to shoot twice as fast.
You'd either miss twice as much, or hit their dead body with some extra bullets.

But I am almost positive they'll be able to edit out the UAV/Choppers/Air Strikes in private matches.

XBXAXTXMXAXNX 09-19-2007 12:49 PM

so on the off chance I hit them, I hit them twice as much, and headshots are harder in this game... cqc it owns... and I fight mostly cqc

NvizioN 09-19-2007 02:27 PM

True, you'll hit them twice as much, depending on how many shots you fire.
If you shoot 3 shots, the first three should kill them, unless you managed to hit their little toes.
And after that, your double-shots would continue to hit his dead body, putting more ammo out of your clip/supply.

XBXAXTXMXAXNX 09-19-2007 02:43 PM

yes... but what if they go into last stand? also, I like shooting my enemies (and teammates sometimes for fun) bodies after I kill them if I get enough adrenaline out of shooting them... lol, it all balances out in the end.

NvizioN 09-19-2007 03:55 PM

If they go into last stand you have to change where you're aiming anyway, so if you double shot, the shots are gonna go to that same place, unless you're on the highest sensitivity, and you were expecting them to go to last stand.
And other than that, you're crazy man. Shooting dead bodies for adrenaline?
Haha some people.

XBXAXTXMXAXNX 09-19-2007 07:13 PM

lol, well... I aim at the legs sometimes... so if I saturate their shins with mp5 rounds... maybe they won't be able to walk... anyways last stand = kill anyways... btw I equipped last stand so now I can tell people where I die before I actually do (for team tactical at least)

NvizioN 09-19-2007 10:08 PM

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bring a man down or anything,
But if we're a good team, we shouldn't have to worry about telling eachother where we die.

XBXAXTXMXAXNX 09-19-2007 10:30 PM

well... saying where you die is part of communication... with no talking to alive teammates, that extra split second can say 3... or something that gives someone an idea of where you are. I took it off because steady aim is so much better

NvizioN 09-20-2007 12:24 AM

If you're using good communication, you won't have to say where you die, we'll know where you are.
;).

XBXAXTXMXAXNX 09-20-2007 06:52 AM

yes very true... you could tell them the weapon and such if you can see it... or maybe even down them.. I've done that
