Game and Anime Censorship/Americanization
 

I think censorship is a backlash of the 1950's "green acres" perfect American society, and eventually there won't be any censorship. This country is evolving and eventually we won't have to worry about it. So no need to fret.

Yeah, but it makes shows that aren't meant for children look like they are shows that are. How can you explain someone getting drunk off of coffee? Jesus Christ, this country's kids are sheltered.

kids arent really sheltered, well they are, but i dont consider censoring cartoon violence being sheltered. children watch cartoons they dont tend to follow content and storyline but adults do. so the storyline stays intact for adults and the violence gets cut down for children. who cares if you cant get drunk off coffee thats not the reason your watching the show. maybe you will understand when you get older and have children.

its a cartoon about robots or killing people with magic and special weapons or whatever other crazy storyline this one has. but if you can explain those things i think you can grasp someone getting drunk off coffee.. what if it was irish coffee? i can get pretty ripped off that. taking a little blood out isnt ruining anything.

Is this country sheltered? Maybe, maybe not. Every country has their own ideas. Orientals allowed men to dress up like women for century's, and place no value on the sanctity of life so death is treated differently. Death before dishonor. But I guarantee you they think some of the things we do in this country is over the top. Goths, child executions, abortions, et cetera. All their students wear uniforms and respect in that country is something that I highly admire. You are given respect in that country, unlike over here. How about our Western culture neighbors in Europe? Prostitution and public printing of nudity is legal and quite normal over there, but pornography is illegal. Different strats for different cats; its called differences in culture.

Now, if you don't understand what Mega is trying to say your an idiot. There are allot of subtleties in anime that make it good. When those are tampered with you have a bad product. In other words, it isn't so much that someone could get drunk off coffee, but was it necessary to place "Coffee" on the cup so that you would know that it wasn't sake? The guy could have been feeling a buzz off of anything. Little things like that take away the feel of the show, and not, it isn't the same thing when you tinker around with it and change things up.

Then how about stop watching anime on public television then? There is no reason to complain about something that you cant do shit to change.

On a side note, this country is far from being sheltered. Look at the kids these days, most parents could care less what their kids say, watch, or do. And the parents that think they are sheltering their kids from porn, violent movies and games and the like need to pull their heads out of their asses. Most of what kids learn these days about drugs, violence, sex, and the like comes from school and the internet.

Although again thats the point, you have to DL it ilegally to watch it good because of all the stupid restrictions. Parents care more about stupid shit they see on television than teaching their children real values, although I will also add that most kids are good they just get a bad rap. This is coming from a teacher so I know what I am talking about. And it all starts with respect.

Quality over quantity man. The first time my brother let me borrow his collection of FMP, i pretty much could not stop laughing. Cant forget about Fumoffu either. On a side note, have you ever seen the Ranma 1/2 anime? That is some funny chit also.

Also you do not necessarily have to download anime illegaly just to "watch it good". Unless i am missing something and buying anime in the form of DVD sets is considered bad. Unless of course you cannot find the certain anime you are looking for with English audio/subtitles.

BTW: About the whole students thing, that discussion could go on for weeks and not get anymore so im gonna leave it where it is and say no more.

Those are only licensed anime. Many anime are unlicensed.
