OH EM GEE new tweak, raises FPS

http://aaotracker.com/thread.php?thr...htuser=&page=1

If you do it right (It shouldn't mess up your computer, I did it) it will raise yuor fps, for all you lag magnets. (I.E. Stoner)

Any questions ask the person who made that thread in AAO tracker.

If it does by some chance mess up your computer don't yell at me!

P.S. I am grounded indefinitly, so I'm not sure when I'll be on yet. :(

That's the reason why I found this tweak out, instead of actually playing hahaha

EDIT: If I'm online you can also ask me or Stoner (cause he did it also) for help, just to save time.

Stoner 04-16-2007 07:38 PM

Indeed, i did it too. worked AMAZINGLY. (still cant play steamroller though...)

Pipe is up to 60-70 FPS from 35
Border is up to 55-45 from 30
WC is up to 100 from 70

there's also less lag when first entering a server, and less lag while shooting. :D :D :D

Much <3 for Cham on this find

lamenant98 04-16-2007 08:41 PM

is it tru it can mess up my comp more than it alreadhy is? amazing i must get it at once!!!

Chaminade2011 04-16-2007 10:01 PM

It shouldn't mess up your computer, if you follow the drections.

Spin 04-16-2007 10:44 PM

but be warned if ur unsure about it dont do it...messing with ur registry settings can seriously screw ur puter up if u do it wrong..the instructions might be plain and simple but if ur unsure dont do it.

IceBlade 04-16-2007 11:17 PM

I'll have to test this out tomorrow!

-towelie 04-17-2007 07:35 AM

wtf is ftw backwards. :D

Zin 04-17-2007 09:34 AM

well seeing as how the human eye can only register around 72 fps, and all my maps are at 80 fps + with the highest settings on, i think i'm good.

Spin 04-17-2007 10:38 AM

and seeing as your giving priority to the video card/proc communications by doing this, i wonder how it affects your sound quality and controls.

and like Zin says...that high of fps is garbage anyways, i was told that anything over 150 fps is worthless, and if the human eye cant register anything more then 72 fps, it dont make sense to me...however for the older systems i can see where the improvement would help, but im curious to see how it reacts in a full server of 24-26 people not just single player staring at the ground lol. but real curious on how it affects the sound and stuff by taking the priority away from them to give to the video card...hmmm.

FlashhhBanggg 04-17-2007 11:03 AM

OMG WTF i tried it and now getting 20 fps on Urban BUT no lag lol :p :p :p :p

IceBlade 04-17-2007 04:05 PM

I suggest you all read Blood's post in that thread.

Chaminade2011 04-17-2007 04:48 PM

Hey, worst case senario is you just erase the new value and it goes back to normal.

IceBlade 04-17-2007 05:06 PM

Or your videocard burns out lol.

yes, but this would force my parents to buy me a new one, because it's their comp too.l

blood 04-17-2007 06:48 PM

it's as spin was starting to say...

graphics go over everything else so other things will lag up. let me show anyone running Windows XP how this would work, except in a somewhat safe mannor...

start up something that takes a lotta CPU power... hit ctrl+alt+delete...

set all the processes you can to "low" including explorer.exe...

set the CPU-hog process to "realtime"

your one task will perform well but the rest of your prcoesses wont get the correct amount of attention. some will error, others will time out, others will take way longer than normal. this is why they are set as they are and most system things (*points to IRQ settings from that post*) aren't editable/changeable by the user in the menus. IT WILL FUCK SHIT UP.

ice: i wouldn't say burn out your card but i would say it'll make your PC unstable. if it causes continual problems then it might kill a HDD or somesuch. this is an extreme example but should still recieve attention.

buy a new pc or turn down settings. if your settings are at low like stoner's, then shit... i don't know...

JOHNUNIT 04-17-2007 07:37 PM

o word dis better work or im coming for ur ass

catch22 04-17-2007 07:47 PM

I find it funny when people will do stupid crap like this just to get better FPS.

stoner u got PCIe, if ya do lemme know i got a 128mb vid card i'll send ya, i dont use it no more cuz its ati, and their drivers bug the shit outta me, but some people swear by them, i played AA with it and it worked fine for the most part, lemme know

IceBlade 04-17-2007 10:38 PM

Hey, Spin, what brand is that? I was looking to update my PC to PCI-E but don't have the money right now so could just buy certain shit. Was looking for temp filler parts.

Spin 04-17-2007 10:41 PM

ati x300, its the lower end but it plays AA pretty good, but it wouldnt play bf2 so i pulled it for that and i just cant stand ati drivers....the voices say they don't like me

IceBlade 04-17-2007 10:49 PM

Well if it's just trash to you I'd pay shipping or a bit more I guess for it. Depends I suppose but yeah I'm pretty sure Stoner doesn't have PCI-E anyways?

Spin 04-17-2007 11:04 PM

aight, if stoner don't have PCIe, i'll send it to ya...dont worry bout the shipping just throw $10 in the server fund we'll call it even

IceBlade 04-17-2007 11:15 PM

Sounds good to me. Hmm that reminds me. Have to update the donations page.

Lethal 04-18-2007 11:28 AM

You can get a 512 video card on eBay for ~$60.

So then why dont you just wait till your parents are gone, and put a couple drops of water in random places on the motherboard, ram slots, pci cards, the works. That will do the trick! Or, just go here, where you learn that "Static is Your Friend", how to use the "Air Force" to destroy your computer components, " Air duster is quite useful for cleaning more robust items, but can also be usefully employed in computer destruction, where it is more than capable of blowing chips out of sockets, spinning fans to prodigious speeds and destroying their tiny brushless motor assemblies, and, of course, redistributing dust from relatively accessible locations to far more exciting ones, like deep inside expansion card connectors and CD-ROM drives."

"Many PC cases are in fact very strong, and so it's necessary to balance large monitors, tabletops, grand pianos and twelve foot fireproof safes upon them to ensure rapid destruction. Fortunately, the pop-riveted construction of most cases and their poor endurance under lateral loads means that even relatively small stresses can, over time, cause sufficient structural creep to snap a solidly attached motherboard. Patience, and not buying enough chairs, can be a virtue."

Also, learn how to "Get it Wet". "Beverages like coffee, tea and (especially) cola are much more effective, and so it is important to have a tall, unstable container of one or more of these within elbowing distance of the work area. Crumbs of food can foul connectors and floppy drive moving parts, but intensive open-mouthed chewing over the computer is required for a reliable kill."

There is all sorts of useful information on this site, and, if you follow the instructions carefully, you will be in perfect shape for the need of a new computer!!

IceBlade 04-18-2007 12:49 PM

lmfao. That's awesome.

if he puts $10-$15 into ur server fund for you guys he can get this one, and he can trust that it works lol...i wouldnt buy anything for a puter off ebay, not unless it was a VERY reputable seller. My card works, and if its still in the puter(i'm not sure, havent used it in a year) I'll send it to him fer nuthin just ask that he throws a lil bit into the server fund is all cuz I won't ever use that card again lol.

Ice pm me ur addy and i'll send that card to ya.

Stoner if ya want the card just pm me ur addy, and it'll be fedex'd to ya

@Raven...LMFAO...I like the make sure to not buy enough chairs one lololol

I talked to the person who I learned the tweak from.

http://www.data-backup-and-storage.c...ry-backup.html

If you go there ^ and you backup your computer nothing should go wrong.

If you already have good fps I wouldn't recommend doing the tweak but for anyone who's questionable but afraid of it messing up their copmuter, you can back up your program just in case.

why would you need to back up your install/data if it's safe?

"just in case"

oh, so something might go wrong... :P

gl when a msn msg or something interrupts calls to your hdd controller :o

EDIT: added you to xfire spin -- that is if you weren't already.

Chaminade2011 04-21-2007 05:56 PM

No everyone was complaining how it would make your PC have a nuclear meltdown so just to re assure some people who did use it.
