Halo wont post. he did tell me to this yesterday tho. He's been extremely excited about this new CD. We talk about it what seems like every other day, hehe. I can't wait for the next one in 2008 :O
I love the sound of this new one. PHM, TDS and Fragile are the sound I liked the most, and this new one sounds more like those. |
For some reason, I knew Khaoz or someone would post about the NIN album leaking. All the while, the FA forums popped into my head. ;)
I'm loving the new album. A nice mix of everything great with NIN. Trent's gotten better wih his lyrics. Current favorites: Meet Your Master, Vessel, God Given, Zero Sum, Another Version of the Truth. Buy the album on the 17th. Comes in a sweet digipack with a 24 page booklet...sure to be good times. Send me a message on aim if you'd like to talk some about the album. |
GJ, now I look like a fool for saying you wouldn't post! lol.
|
Trent is pissing a lot of people off right now though lol, he is pretty much the man.
Starting with the tour shirts, www.iamtryingtobelieve.com and now the the USB flash drives and all the buttons with codes on them. It really is neat though trying to figure everything out. hes having a lot of fun with it I would assume. |
|
Sweet. I like it :)

The last half of Vessel nearly makes me wet myself. The Great Destroyer reminds me of crazy Aphex Twin stuff. I fucking love this album.
Edit: I can't believe two NIN albums have been released in two years. And then YZ part 2 coming in 2008. Sober Trent kicks ass. No more waiting five years for albums (knocks on wood). And it's so good hearing him going back to electronic music. I wonder how well the YZ music will translate to live shows. Survivalism and The Beginning of the End have been played live already, which sounded good, but I wonder about many others from the new album. |
Ignore the small NIN images in a previous post. Looks like the NIN Hotline changed them around.
Anyways, I think "Another Version of the Truth" is now my favorite piano-based NIN song to date. It used to be held by "La Mer" from 1999. Gotta go with "Meet Your Master" as being my favorite track off the album right now. Edit: Wow. Listen to this album on a good set of headphones. The difference is amazing. |
Trent is back, that's for sure. I told you Matt. Trent had it too nice for too long. We needed someone to piss him off. Break his heart, a huge world issue that's getting under everyones skin, lawsuits over his record label. Just SOMETHING to get him all fucking sad and mad at the same time, like he used to be. It seems he has plenty to be pissed at, and now the old NIN is seeping through the pours of a pissed off an angry Trent. I'm diggin it. Muchos Diggin it.

i am much impressed. neither survivalism or my violent heart terribly impressed me, but vessel certainly has. haven't listened to it all yet tho, will update at that time.
|
any1 wanna hook me up with the CD? streaming it is killin my ping :-/
|
sweet, so I've listened to the new album. Yeah it's pretty pro how Trent's gone back to his electronic roots and stuff. And fuck yeah Halo, the sounds on "Vessel" and the "The Great Destroyer" are fucking crazy harsh Aphex Twin style hehe. Sounds so pro hehe. Btw, where the hell have you been lately? I've been trying to get a hold of you.

You can catch me on aim (mvice9). I'm normally on anytime between 5pm and 10pm est.
This record has really been receiving mixed results from fans, which has kind of surprised me. However, it has received 5/5 from Kerrang. Personally, I'm currently digging this more than The Fragile. Some absolutely love it, while others have been harsh towards it. Though, many of those are die hard With Teeth fans. What REALLY surprises me is how many die hard Skinny Puppy fans are digging Year Zero and how die hard Radiohead fans are hating it. I've been at the boards and it's been rather surprising. Especially from the Skinny Puppy fans. I never thought I'd see the day. Great songs to drive around to: The Greater Good and Another Version of the Truth. Really makes you look around. Looking forward to the 17th so I can see all of the artwork that's in store. Anyone else hear that Trent is wanting to make a movie off Year Zero? |

Anyhow, I listened to the new NIN album about 5 or 6 times at work today and I have to say that I'm thoroughly impressed with this album. It's something totally new for NIN, something they've never done before. I'm digging this album more than the Fragile because it has way more emotion. The guitar sounds on "The Warning" are actually really inspiring for me. It's just so damn catchy. And "Zero-Sum" just sounds so beautiful. That's interesting what you say about Radiohead fans hating it and Skinny Puppy fans loving it. Actually, that totally makes sense to me...I could see Radiohead fans hating it...heh.. |
How did I not hear about this album, good thing I still lurk around these forums. I trust your review halo, downloading it now...
I remember when you hooked me up with Audioslave's first CD months before it came out, at first I hated it so much, I think it was becuase I loved Rage's sound so much. It grew on me, still one of my fav cds today. |
Don't forget to go out and buy it today! There's quite a bit of hidden shit within the booklet and all. Cool art.
Also, apply heat to the CD in some way. Play the disc on your computer or put it up to a blowdryer. Cool stuff. ;) |
new static-x and combichrist are great as well.
the static-x - destroyer video is great. |
new age 1984.
I think Trent was taking so long to release new material due to legal battles and shit like that. He seems to be back to his productive ways. |
so how many sweet secrets have you guys found, so far i think the biggest three i found are how when the cd gets hot it turns completely white and you can actually see everything on it, along with the binary code that can be used one the website hidden in the NIN Lithograph "the maelstrom" aka the only search engine left in the future controlled by the government. And also in the song The great destroyer, if you put it in mono at 2:24 you'll hear a secret message =)
