Anyone Own a DS?
I just got one and put my PSP up on eBay. Was wondering who here had a DS. The things is pretty amazing so far. My R4 card will be in on Tuesday. I like how easy it is to get games on the DS. Buy an R4 card, put a 1gig microSD card in it, and bam, done. No firmware flashing like with my PSP, no headache adjusting and messing with this and that, was nothing to it. Now I just drop the .nds rom files for the DS games onto that 1gig stick and I can play the games :O That 1gig stick holds like 30+ games too which is sick as hell.
I also like all the homebrew they have out on it. AIM, MSN all wirelessly from my DS, and like, they have that DSOrganize that turns the DS into a PDA pretty much. Giving like a calendar, todo list, doodlepad, music player, movie player, ebook reader, email checker, and on and on. I'm really shocked at all of the things they have for the DS. I haven't had a chance to try DoomDS or QuakeDS, if anyone has, are they any good? And I haven't tried any of the emulators like the NES and SNES ones. I downloaded that package of like 855 Nintendo DS games, but only like 250 of them are US games. Can't wait to try them all out. I'm pretty excited if you can't tell :O I can't wait to try DSLinux eventually. |
I got mine 3 days ago, I love it. Love the game selection. Really fun to play. Been playing before I go to bed every night.

What color did you get btw? And did you get a case or anything with it? Screen protector? Curious what's good with it. |
BTW, here's the R4: http://www.modchipman.com/r4-slot1-device-p-1551.html
And here's the 1gig sticks you can buy to put in that badboy: http://meritline.stores.yahoo.net/ki...o-sd-card.html A lot of cool things you can do with those :O Anyway, what games do you have? |
I've had my DS for over a year now. I love it........

I've been tinkering with the PDA functions. Setting up my Calendar, and Todo list, as well as getting some movies and mp3s on one of my other cards. Thing owns though. It's so simple to do things with. |
I have one, but it took a trip down the stairs and the screen broke. I just played tetris DS for hours on end.
|
tell us how the chip goes, I've had a ds lite since launch.
|
whats your scores on whack-a-mole?
|
The DS is a cute little system, I dunno, I thought the only games it really had going for it were all the mario games and Animal Crossing Wild World.
I liked the Sims though..that was a pretty cool game. Meh, I bought it for 25 dollars off a friend, my brother seems to get more use out of it than me. Go somewhere that has Wifi and try playing online, some games have nifty online stuff. |

It's as easy as that. You get the Card, you put the .nds ROM files, 1 per game, on the microSD card, turn on your DS, and play. As for what Luminesca said... I haven't even played those games you're talking about. I played a couple of Mario games just to try them, but there's so many other good games on the DS right now. They've sold something like 45 million units world wide, so I expect there to be assloads more good games :O I have about 250 US roms to go through, and I plan to play at least half of them, lol. The homebrew scene is tight too. If you have a DS, get an R4. When considering the thousands of dollars in games and things you can download for it all for free, that $45 it costs for the R4 seems cheap. BTW, my PSP sold. It went for $275 :O WTF? I have no idea why it went for so much, but I'm not complaining :) |
my dslite is hacked... its so nice having it.... Free Free? ;)

The "M3 Simply" is the shit. It's the latest M3. It's the exact same thing as the R4. Identical hardware and all. You own a Slot-2? You must if you flashed your firmware? Though, there may be Slot-1 ways I have not read about. I just bought my DS though. When the warranty is up I'll get a slot-2 and flash the DS then, primarily so I can play GBA games and use the web browser. There's a web browser in development for the R4/M3, but it's not out yet and probably wont be as nice as the current ones.. The warranty is what I worry about the most though. Since so many people flash their DSs, i'm sure it's been made very safe by now. Main thing that I love about the R4 and M3 though is just how simple they are. No work involved. Drag a game over to the disk, click play. I'm not much into tinkering with firmwares like I had to with my PSP :( |
I've had the DS since i started working at gamestop, its fuckin awesome, it beats the shit out of the psp. I've played a good share of games on it, best ones i've played so far have been warioware, final fantasy III, children of mana, yoshis island, kirby, and DEFINATLY PHEONIX WRIGHT!! love em =)
i havent been playing it much lately, and i have never heard of that chip, so im definatly gonna look into it. |

Does anyone know if i buy a DS lite in the UK can i use it with games from the U.S., also when i get back to new jersey, can i buy an U.S. adapter and will it work?
|
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS
That says they're Region free and that any DS can run any game from anywhere in the world, and my R4 allows me to play downloaded JP and UK games, so I would assume you could get one out there and it would be fine. |
i play anything dude. whatever u wanna play i will download. right now i have to buy another power adapter cause my friend took it so there will be no playing games atm.

sweet thanks for that find, i think i may pick one up out here, so i can get some kind of video game fix. Ill pick up a black ds lite from the local tesco. Tesco is like an walmart and costco combined out here its great. |
1 black and 1 pink, i won the pink one
only 3 games though, it's nice but i don't travel much and when im away i don't have time to play it anyways |
Both DS and PSP are region free. I think the only thing not region free is the movies on the PSP.

A good multi game though is Mario Kart. I like that game :O I hear metroid is fun online too. I like how Metroid controls in singleplayer a lot, so maybe the multi would work well. They should do more FPS on the DS. The way Metroid is done up, it's pretty cool. |
ABOUT TO BUY ONE! wooooo :P putting one PC up on ebay tonight! yay!
