How so? I know quite a few people who have made the transition, but you are the first to claim to actually enjoy source more.
And you said you played beta, but for clarification, did you play 1.6 often? The two are night and day. |
i played every version of CS until source was released. i believe source came out at 1.5, correct? so no, i haven't given 1.6 the time it deserves, but i have given *<1.6 the time it deserves (hundreds of hours), and since i always figured whatever was around before source and 1.6 were relatively the same, i figured 1.6 was the same. every cs beta was better and better, and 5.1 or 5.5 was my favorite, but as far as i can tell, source just beats out 1.6.
apparently i need to give it another chance |
khaoz have you played overlord?
Edit: I bought overlord and tried the demo before opening it and im gonna return it even tho the gamestop guy said it was better than shadowrun. Im thinking about picking up darkness instead, or nothing and waiting for a better game. |

Not pertaining to you Killya... but the ones that do make statements like that are usually the ones that had no skill, and if they did, it was higher than cal-m level. Source is an easier came for the newbies to get kills. I play 1.6 and have played source and I do find gfx of course to be better as source is on a newer engine and should have better gfx. 1.6.... for a game that old, old engine (in reference to gfx) and for so many people to still be playing it, that tells you something. |
like i said, i havnt played 1.6 for more than 20 minutes, estimate. however, back in beta days i would always be top player on the server. i would always dominate every public server i played in, even the higher skill ones. i was cal for a few months but nothing cpl. now that isnt the case at all today. every once and a while ill have a hot streak, but it was just repetition and practice back then. i cant really explain it my reasons, which is why i need to play more 1.6 apparently.

1.6 was out for around 2 years (atleast 4 CPL's)before source. Not a big deal, but you still have to factor in the things that they changed from early on. No bunny hopping, no quick scoping, they made the game more strategic.
I still don't see what is so great about source. But there are several things that I don't like. Running accuracy, hitboxes, flashbangs. They basically took out the entire purpose of squating and walking. Maybe that is fun in pubs, but in 5v5's it translates into a watered down game with straight forward strategies and less than inspiring skill displays. |

Don't ever listen to gamestop guys. These are the same people who told people not to buy 360s, cause the PS3 was coming out, and that the PS3 would be way better. NOTHING IS BETTER THAN SHADOWRUN. If you played it, you'd know that. Anyone who's played it, can't talk enough about how amazingly fun it is. On the 360, there is not 1 game better than Shadowrun. But, yes. I played Overlord. It's nothing like Shadowrun at all, but it is a very fun single player action game. I enjoyed it, but I'd rent it, not buy it. Trade OL in for Shadowrun, and we'll play. I'm on Shadowrun about 6+ hours a day, so just come on and hit me up, and we'll play. |

Yeah you play shadowrun 24/7 lol! I played the Overlord demo and it was fun but it has no replay value to me. Once you beat the game it's over but it does look fun as hell! Renting it would be the best way to go about getting the game. |
yeah i returned overlord and got a wireless network adapter and a new wireless controller cause my fucking dog chewed off the fucking joystics from one of my others. so insane. ive been playing shadowrun all day. the demo was sick, so i bought it. the demo map is by far my fav so far. the power plant or whatever
