The resources spent in Iraq will and are seriously damaging this country and the world is the problem. Because of the money being spent in Iraq, we CAN'T do anything about Iran or N. Korea like we should. We just don't have the money for it. Like I've been saying, we do need to be the world police in some situations, and N. Korea and Iran would be those situations, but because of our fuckup in Iraq, we may have blown it all. The problem is, many Americans still buy into Bush's lies, as is blatant from many of the posts in this thread alone.
My problem, which you guys don't seem to be grasping, is this; yes, the world will hate us either way, but why spend 600 BILLION $$$ to destroy and then rebuild Iraq, when we should have been dealing with other nations that are a true threat? If they're going to hate us either way on something like Iraq, why spend the lives and money? Why not just save the American lives, the Iraqi lives, and the Money, and stay out? Had we been smart and stayed out of Iraq, then we'd have a full military force and full resources to deal with Iran and N. Korea as needed. Simply put: How can you justify letting nuclear threats thrive so we can throw our money in the toilet? |
I agreed with you on that.
|
yeah i agree with that also...but what is the solution to the problem at hand, we cant just drop the ball and run...the power vaccum would be horrendous*spellin is prolly off ima dumb hillbilly lol.....but like i said earlier, i dunno if we pull out now or in a year what the difference is. and i agree we need to be more directly involved with the other countries that are posing a bigger threat to the world right now, but we can't and it sucks.
and historically the Democrats have ALWAYS cut defense and military spending...and the same holds true now to this day. |
There is no solution. We run the country will be torn apart. We stay soldiers will continue to be killed and the problems are still there. That is why Khaoz said the U.S. should have thought about the consequences. They fucked up, this entire war should have been fought differently. They thought the Iraqis would feel liberated and all set up a democratic government with no drawbacks. Fucking retarded flash in the pan hope. The reality is that not everybody disliked Saddam over there; and the real terrorists found a perfect opportunity to fight the U.S. All the good Iraqis are fleeing the country, staying and dieing, or being intimidated to leave by death threats and murders. It must be a real hell over there, and definitely worse than when Saddam was in control. Atleast with Hussein they could survive, they just had limited freedom and lived with the fear of death; but it was rare. They could be happy. But today, there is death around every corner. They can't practice their freedoms, because they will be shot like dogs in the street. With that kind of reality, it is no wonder people hate America. We have brought them nothing but trouble.
Its like somebody you just hit in the head with a crowbar to kill a mosquito, and then in Mr. Bean type fashion are fucking things up even worse. The U.S. is trying desperately to make things right, because they don't want that person to hold a grudge. We want them to think we were doing them a favor. To them, we are fucking idiots. They want us to just go away. Either way, they will hold a grudge. No matter what the U.S. does now there will always be a black eye there. |

I Dont really want to read everyones reponse and get into a ahuge arguement,
But contrayer to popular belief, I do think we should possibly go deal with Iran, they are far more likely to do something stupui then NK however, i'm sure the entire ME would declare the fucking intafada and try and kill all of us. I swear to go ppl are fucking idoits, yes lets kill everyone cause they are in hell on earth, Like seriously, who comesup with these things? |
It's all a mess, and yes, the Dems do cut military historically, which is why I'm a registered republican. One would assume Job security in having a Republican president, but it's not the case. Bush has and is making more cuts in short ammounts of time, than any 2 presidents before him. I don't think you realize how many 40,000 is, lol. That's 1 in every 5 people I know in the Air Force. I look out my window right now and see 10 houses down my street and think, 2 of those 10 will be removed from the Air Force soon. Not to mention there has already been MANY cuts over the last years since all this spending got out of hand. It just saddens me overall :(
ITH and I were laughing about this though. In the briefing the other day, the colonel giving it said they would be saving billions by cutting all these Air Force. That reducing Officers to 9,000 AF wide would save them 2 billion a year. All I could think about was "if you want to save money, stop spending HUNDREDS of BILLIONS on pointless fucking wars". Heh. I just found it sad how easy they could talk about removing people from their jobs. Putting them out on the street. All to save money they could EASILY save in other places. |
well in reality it wont even be saving money cuz in the long run how many if they cant find jobs will end up on government assistance...thats why i say todays government is just to, i dont know if its corrupt is the word im looking for, i think it is...all they(politicians) worry about is taking care of the industries and other stuff that bought the 1,500 bucks a plate dinners for them during the election campaigns instead of the real problems that face the country and the world i.e. Iran, NK, Somalia....the Iran thing kinda bothers me, its got the possibilities of blowing up into a pretty HUGE deal overnight i feel.

I didn't vote last round, but I would have voted Kerry as well. I helped vote Bush into office and very much regret it.
