Zone of the Enders was released in 2001, and not many people liked the first game because it was kind of poorly put together, and the CG cut scenes look very fake and cheesy. Zone of the Enders:The Second Runner (Known in Japan as Zone of the Enders: Anubis) was a direct sequel, which they spent much more time on, was released in 2003. It was received much better than the first game, and to this day is praised for having some of the best graphics seen in a PS2 game. They replaced the old crappy CG cut scenes with a mix of Anime and high quality CG. Most people only bought the first game because it came with a demo of Metal Gear Solid 2, but the second game sold much better.
