How can you possibly say that? MS is completely set to dominate them this round, and Nintendo is even set to beat them. Sony has near no chance of being #1 this round. All the games that made people buy PS2s are no longer exclusives, and MS has gathered GREAT exclusives of their own. Xbox Live is leap years beyond anything Sony could even dream of. Devs are saying that the PS3 really isn't that much of a jump above the 360, that they push near the same quality in graphics. Kojima, creater of MGS and now making MGS4 even said himself they technicly could do MGS4 as it is on the 360. They're going to be real close in graphics, but the 360 had this headstard, more exclusives, and it's quite a bit cheaper, so how could anyone possibly think the PS3 will win? Not to mention that they announced they haven't even started PS3 production yet because of lack of Blue Ray lasers and problems with the Cell CPU. The rumor is that there will only be 100,000 in the entire US at launch.

MS sposedly has a black $600 xbox 360 ready for launch around the time of the PS3 that comes with a 120gb HD, a built in HDDVD player, HDMI output and more. With gears of war launching the same week of the PS3 along with an onslaught of great games this christmas season, then Halo 3 on 7/7/7 next year, Sony is in HUGE trouble. Even the big time Sony Loyal game devs are saying they hope Sony does something soon to change their game plan, because right now they're heading down the wrong path. Kojima being one of those devs.

I'm no MS fanboy, I grew up a die hard Sega fan. I own a PS1 and owned PS2 till I was sick of there being no games on it that first year. So though my enthusiasm for someone else taking over the top seat may seem fanboyish, it is not. I simply am excited to see an American company dominate the Console industry for once. And see the creators of my $1400 TV that broke in it's first year drop from that top spot. Sure I feel a little happy about it all :)

Sony is hurting as a whole. It was what? Like 20,000 laptop batteries sony made that were recalled by Dell and Apple recently? Sony took their first loan out in like 15 years or something. Sony was being hit up by the Japan IRS for not paying millions in taxes. Cell CPU with issues, and now Sony announcing they wont be releasing their BluRay players because they just don't have enough lasers for them and the ps3 launch. Then their movies crashing hard in the theaters, like that CG haunted houe movie what ever it was failing big time. It all adds up to Sony in a hurt. It will be interesting to see what the giant does to get out of it.

I persoanlly don't see sony losing anyground they are Dominating in the online PC gaming world. the development of blueray discs and the fact that they are on the shelves. They may have some problems but MS isn't exactly at the top of there game with all the R&D still going into Windows Vista and what not and still not being released along with the loss of the VanGuard saga of heros contract microsoft better do something to bring in the Bucks.

I am not a Microsoft fan or a sony fan in unequal amounts it sounds kinda like you are pissed about your TV mostly.

Sony online entertainment makes 10 times what selling consoles does for there business and with the new blue-ray discs already on the shelves they are maximizing there business. Now not to attack the point but the PS3 will dominate the video out put of the 360 because the 360 is not a true next gen gameing console it is a enhanced x-box with HD capaibility not much more then a standard besides a new video card and new processor my buddy works for ATI the company that developed the GPU for the system he worked on the team and helped design the GPU.

I would say it will be a good run in the console wars but in the end i am sure Sony as a whole will have a bigger market and are not really concerned about being #1 in consoles when they make so many other goods. both companies have there niche microsoft has been focused on the console as the same with nintendo sony has tons of other products and huge R&D teams designing new things all the time.

In short Sony's business doesn't depend on the gaming console. And microsoft needs to quit working so hard on consoles and give us the new Vista OS.

360 is a next gen console, and if you believe its not then you have to believe ps3 isnt either. The sony specs are not that much greater than the 360. Sony is losing exlusives left and right, its going to fare a hell of alot worse than xbox did to ps2.

SoE has lost a ton of money for Sony as a whole. If you read their quarterly share reports, SoE hasn't made a profit in quiet some time. EQ2 is doing better now, but it is nothing compared to the succes of WoW, and it is the only thing they have going for them right now. Blu-Ray so far has been recieving bad reviews and HDDVD is winning that little war, so that's another place Sony is suffering. If you truely believe Sony stands a chance in this next round, then you'd be one of the few, as all the analists have said otherwise. The only analists that say Sony wins in the end, call it in 2009 and 2010 as the years when Sony bulls ahead of the 360 in sales. So if those analists are correct, then I guess you'd be right.


MS is a much richer and doing much better as a whole than Sony overall, and with a large chunk of the gaming devs switching from being hardcore sony, over to supporting the new Xbox, it is a wonder how anyone can think the PS3 will do so well.

Keep in mind here, the big time Sony execs wanted to charge more for the PS3 because of how much money the SCE division has been losing. They said publicly that they felt $600 was to cheap considering their current position. Throw in that MS has a 10 million system lead on Sony, exclusives on MANY of the top games, MS tossing TONS and TONS of money at this latest console war, and now devs stating that the PS3 and the 360 are near on the same level as far as their hardware goes, I see no reason why the PS3 would win.

We live in a country where everyone is much more broke than before. We have mothers and fathers working just to make ends meet. It costs $40 to fill up little 4 cylindar cars. The average consumer doesn't have $600 to just throw out the window at a system that's questionable, when there are 2 other systems for half that price and less. Sony has not revieled any ace up it's sleave that would overcome all of these huge obstacles, so until they do, I personaly think they are set to fail.

Then the 100,000 PS3s in the US before christmas shit? What game dev wants to make and release a videogame that cost them millions to create, just to sell it to such a small audience?

Many questions like those need decent answers before I can look positivly on the future of the PS2

Oh, and Sony has no BluRay players in stores anywhere rath. Those are Samsung made and many of them have been being recalled because of problems with them. Sony's BluRay player was delayed till christmas from earlier this year, and has now been delayed till 07. Samsung is working out their bugs and rereleasing their player, or already has?, I forget. HDDVD has been getting higher reviews as far as quality goes, and is sold at half the price of BluRay, and seems to be winning that war.

As for Blizzard and WoW having nothing to do with consoles, you are right, it was just in reply to your "Sony is dominating the online PC market". EQ2 is their only success, and it's not doing as well as many had hoped. Keep in mind there are many games doing better than EQ2, as EQ2 hasn't broken that 1 million subscribers mark, where games like WOW are up to 7 million, Guild Wars over 2.5 million, etc. Not to say EQ2 sucks, just saying Sony is hurting.

Well my mention of blu-ray was that that format is from Sony they developed it the disc and system for it. I was merely mentioning that the technology was developed and is owned by sony. like the sony memory stick. that was the mention I was giving that. I am not partial I am giving my view on things and yes microsoft is rich but I was also stating that sony doesn't solely depend on gaming systems to keep them alive. I also can't see why sigil games choose to not go with microsoft for the back-end hosting when they had a contract that microsoft let them out of because of development reasons. I don't know or really care at this point just sharing my view. I don't play console games and so it is not relavent to me I suppose. sony would prolly do better not making consoles and saving all that money on R&D of them. If microsoft did have the OS market wrapped up then I think things would be alot different. Because I don't know what you all call a monopoly but Microsoft is pretty much that in the OS for gamers department. Unless you all know that all the titles out work on OS 10 or Linux and I don't. I personally Just dislike Bill Gates cause i am forced to Use his OS if I want to play my games. so I am kinda Sony partial i suppose.
